Members of the book’s cult–like following rejoiced after the trailer for “The Fault in Our Stars” came out last Wednesday—a full two weeks before the trailer’s planned release date on Valentine’s Day. Producers released the two and a half minute teaser after a low–quality leak appeared online. “The Fault in Our Stars” tells the love story of 16–year–old Hazel Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) and 17–year–old Gus Waters (Ansel Elgort), who meet at a cancer support group. The film is based on John Green’s 2012 novel of the same name.

Director Josh Boone is a relative newcomer, having only directed the 2012 romantic–drama “Stuck in Love.” Presumably, “The Fault in Our Stars” will cement his status among young Hollywood directors.

What we love: Shailene Woodley has come a long way since “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” After her genuine performances in “The Descendants” and “The Spectacular Now,” we’re excited to see her onscreen.

What we don’t: The dynamic between Woodley and Elgort seems a little forced at the beginning of the trailer, but gets comfortable by the end. We hope that the two actors have chemistry, especially since they also appear in the upcoming film “Divergent” together.

“The Fault in Our Stars” will be out on June 6th.
