Ever since Snapchat launched in September 2011, there have been consistent, game–changing updates. For example, Snapchat enabled the video feature in December 2012, stories in October 2013 and most recently, the addition of memories in July 2016. However, there are some essential updates that we still need.

Groups

I cannot even remember how long I have been waiting for this update. This is so essential for when we want to send mass Snapchats to certain groups of people. With this, we can just make and click a group instead of having to scroll through our entire friend list.

Drunk Blacklist

A lot of people need this on their Snapchats. Simply an update that allows you to make a blacklist of people that the app doesn’t allow you to send Snapchats to when you’re drunk. Not sure how Snapchat would make it so that the app knows that you’re drunk, but they should figure it out. Or they should make it that you can’t send Snapchats to these people after 1 a.m.

Selective Do Not Disturb

While you can put your entire phone on do not disturb, sometimes we just need it for certain people. We all have those people on our friends list that we don’t need a vibration for when we get a Snapchat from them. Looking at you, people–who–send–mass–Snapchats–that–they–also–post–on–their–story. I thought what we had was special. You know who you are.

Music

Although a couple years back Snapchat made the huge improvement of being able to play music during videos, they still need to take it one step further. Snapchat needs to make it so when you are playing music over a Bluetooth speaker, the music continues to play on the speaker while you take a video.

Preference of Stories

While stories were a great addition to the app, some people really abuse the ability to post stories. Like I really don’t need to know what you’re doing every minute of every day and what food you eat for every meal. As a result, Snapchat should allow you to make a list of people whose stories don’t appear for you to have to watch. Also, they should make an option to list the stories via your preference rather than time. This way, you can really just view the stories that you want to watch.

Top Three Friends

Remember when you could see people's top three friends? Remember how many friendships and relationships got fucked up because of this? Yeah, let's bring this back.
