You came, you flang, you conquered. While you were busy blacking out in your old freshman room in the Quad, we were busy watching. So in case your memory hasn’t served you well, we were around to gather the finest tidbits of Fling scandals and mishaps. Things started off Thursday night with an overwhelming excess of downtown parties and an array of designer DJs. As a result, the normally $10 entry fee was levied to $15 or more at most venues. On Friday, the historically hit-or-miss Fling concert at Franklin Field was met with astonishing attendance and rave reviews of Akon. Guster, the opening act, was also met with welcome arms. Sources tell us the band partied at an off-campus frat house and allegedly snorted lines of protein powder, perhaps convinced it was a more potent white substance. Unsubstantiated accounts of whippet-doing have also been reported. Saturday brought many of the usual suspects: the petting zoo at Zete, block parties on Chancellor and Irving Streets, and an abundance of roaming ice cream trucks. By nightfall, we hear the men of AEPi hosted an otherwise raging get-together (complete with hot tub!) at which pornographic images were briefly projected on a wall. Meanwhile, things got way hotter than porn at Owl’s 4000 Pine residence, where a fire broke out around 11 p.m. Further down the block, a party at Tabard ended early when a crew of topless Princeton dudes broke into an aggressive fist fight. Though Fling was the week’s primary concern, campus's green-loving population also celebrated 4/20 on Monday. The ladies of a certain Spruce sorority apparently took the holiday quite seriously, much to the dismay of one sister who sent an anonymous email to the listserv, complaining that "a sorority founded on religious values should be celebrating religious holidays... rather than stoner day." Our favorite line? "Come on girls, we're not Theta." You tell 'em girl!
