Teruzzi & Puthod "Terre di Tufi" 2005 - $15.99

Why not escape Philly and its Philistines with a tastefully titillating bottle of Tuscan white? Although "Terre de Turfi" mostly comprises Vernaccia (a term which binds numerous unrelated grapes), Teruzzi & Puthod have also thrown in some Chardonnay for complexity and some Vermentino for exoticism. The resultant mongrel is enviably well-balanced; lithe and fresh but not lacking in body. A bouquet of pineapples, flint and candied lemon unfolds into a surprisingly round and creamy palate. Particularly delicious with shellfish, this wine merits a worthy appetizer.
