Shaun of the Dead (2004)

Though this is a parody from across the pond - think Dawn of the Dead meets Harold and Kumar - British comedians Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright know how to splatter their way into movie history. Three words: impalement, pole, hole.

Personally, I enjoy nothing more than snuggling up with a movie about infectious canablaism. But when helicopters are used as human smoothie-makers, hide-under-the-blanket time is over and change-the-sheets time begins.

Se7en (1995)

David Fincher is not a director to be taken lightly. He's also not a director to be taken if you're not saavy with extreme mutilation. With utter shock and disgust, any viewer of this suspenseful horror film is pretty much guaranteed to go numb all over. well, almost all over - this does have Brad Pitt after all.

Un Chien Andalou (1929)

Movies like Sin City and 300 easily out-gore this classic film by Salvador Dali and Luis Buñel, but one has to recognize one's roots. And when a moon-gazing eye met a straight-edge razor in this surrealist piece of art, Hollywood was changed forever.
