The first time I heard “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” was admittedly a bit unorthodox for a Dylan epic — it played during the final episode of the Sopranos. Adolescent Anthony was coming of age and finally beginning to mature, and the track played as he and his love interest were in his car. For most, that was the fateful night when viewers wondered why the Sopranos had literally left them hanging. For me, it was the night I discovered “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding).”

Once again, the Brits have beaten us to the punch with the next music craze: meet dubstep. This phenomenon, one that you don’t even know you’ve heard of, began in South London’s underground dance scene almost ten years ago. Since then, dubstep has been maturing outside the eye of the mainstream, only recently infiltrating the world of popular music.

Britain’s electro-pop scene shows no signs of losing its steam. No doubt about it, these Manchester blokes are blowing up. However, their Jan. 11 album Acolyte is only available in the UK iTunes Store. Damn the Atlantic!

Any will girl will tell you “it’s all about playing the game.” In A Game For Girls, director Matteo Rovere showcases the lives of four beautiful, wealthy Italian high school girls and the sinister tricks they play on others. When these Heather-ish girls discover another student has told the principal about their smoke sesh in the bathroom, Elena (Blair Waldorf meets Regina George) sprays her with a fire hose in the girls’ changing room. But that’s child’s play. Elena rules her gang and all the men her friends encounter, but she faces her ultimate challenge when she becomes infatuated with destroying the new, well-meaning Italian teacher, Mario Landi. As kitschy and predictable as the film is, the ending will leave even the most desperate housewife surprised. In this Italian Sin-ema viewers can expect a deliciously guilty tale filled with the stuff that drives any soap opera, chock full of enough sex, drugs, bulimia, suicide and house music to please even the most jaded of fans.

Street: What’s so new about DJ Newby?
Matt Newberg: Everything is new about DJ Newby because I am hip-hop. I take the old and make it new. For example, I’ll take some old school shit you’ve never heard of ‘cause you’re probably too ignorant and turn it into some brilliant new song that you will love. Like I’ll take some old school instrumental, put on some bullshit Lil Wayne over it, or take a sample of some opera. It’s crazy.

A recent headline from The New York Times read: "Stocks Slide as New Bailout Disappoints." Okay, so the economy is at an all-time low. Enter Confessions of a Shopaholic, which seems to center on the sparkly shoes we couldn’t afford when Carrie Bradshaw purchased them in bulk. Surprisingly, that carelessness isn't present here because the film focuses on economic collapse. Heroine Rebecca Bloomwood (Isla Fisher) acts metonymically for America, obsessed with consumerism but living in fear of the debt collector.

Zach Williamson: We didn’t get enough girls with Leviathan.

This year for Halloween, instead of being a Catholic schoolgirl or throwing on a Lakers jersey to be Kobe Bryant (or Ms. Walk of Shame) again, why not show everyone how culturally aware (read: pseudo-intellectual) you are? Flip through the pages of Us Weekly or The New York Times and you’ll find tons of inspiration for this year’s best costumes. We’ve compiled a list of some of our favorProxy-Connection: keep-alive
