Lorde released her sophomore album Melodrama on June 16th, 2017 after a four–year hiatus following her full–length debut, Pure Heroine. In that time, she ended a long–term relationship and wrote a record that captures what it's like to be going through those things while simultaneously growing up and shedding past ideals for reality. It came out a month after my own first long term relationship ended, and it cut through me like a knife. I've only been able to listen to it the whole way through without crying for a few months. It was a visceral catharsis; she was able to put everything I was feeling into words and then some.

If you know me, then you probably know that I'm not very soft–spoken about my queerness. Neither is Hayley Kiyoko. Her fans refer to her as "Lesbian Jesus," and her music videos always feature a female romantic interest. The artwork of her debut album Expectations, released March 30, features Kiyoko sitting in a chair while gazing at a naked woman whose back is to the camera. Kiyoko's position suggests lust; her head tilts to the side, jacket falling off her shoulder with no effort by Kiyoko to pull it back up, transfixed by the woman in front of her. The art is a good metaphor for the album itself. In an interview with Jill Gutowitz for them., Kiyoko says, "That would normally be a guy sitting in that chair...I'm putting myself in these positions, but it's always going to be different because I am a woman."

Disclaimer: After Street visited Wm. Mulherin's Sons, allegations emerged that the head chef had sexually harrassed several employees. He has since been suspended.

We've all heard it before: it's not cool to like pop music. Let's take a look at the Spotify USA Top 50 as of now (because in my opinion, this is a much more accurate representation of what people are listening to than the Billboard or iTunes charts): the top 15 songs are all rap or hip–hop, with one quasi–pop track thrown in at #6 ("Mine" by Bazzi), which will likely soon be driven out by the juggernaut of a record that is Black Panther: The Album. The first true pop song clocks in at #22, "Never Be the Same" by Camila Cabello.

Listen up ladies! Nestled away in scenic South Philadelphia is your new favorite brunch spot that you don’t have to feel guilty Ubering to, given it’s in Pennsport.

On a cold, snowy night last January, I
found myself waiting on the porch of a rowhouse on Spruce Street. It was the Friday of
the weekend with that huge blizzard, and snow
was already piling up inches deep on the street.
There were no other people out, or cars, and
the streetlights cast a deep, warm yellow that
the snow reflected onto everything. I felt like I
was the only person on Earth. I had just come
from a themed mixer and shivered in my senior year prom dress (it was emoji themed, and
I was the red dress dancing girl). I wandered to
the far edge of the porch, away from the door.
As I gazed out over the street, the large door
creaked open, and I turned around to see her
right behind me. She gave me a big hug and
said, “Hey! I’m glad you’re here. Come inside.”

Happy 4/21, guys, gals and friends of all shapes and sizes. It's only the second most depressing day of the year—after December 26. Though yesterday is long, long gone, we here at Street still wanted to be festive and provide you with a guide to the high–tech newish way to smoke weed: VAPES. Though people who vape are extremely easy/fun to make fun of, it's a growing way of life, and we must learn to accept it. Soon, every man, woman and child will have a vape (okay well hopefully not children but it sounded good ya know?); this is what I hope to accomplish with this article. I found and reviewed two of the more common styles of portable vapes, and this is what I learned. It should be noted that these vapes only work with dry materials, and NOT wax, oil or concentrates.

We live in a technologically connected world, from our phones to our computers to our tablets,
and depending on who you ask, that's either a great thing or a bad thing. Well, if you ask me, I
think it's fucking stellar. I say, give me all the bacon and eggs smart technology you have. Cover
me head to toe in that shit. And you know what? That's actually entirely possible. What we have
here is Street's short guide to wearable technology. Check this shit out.

Penn alumni are doing big things
in the tech world. Caroline Klatt (C '11) has been the driving force behind an app
that's still in testing––but hopefully launching soon––called
Headliner. Hailing
from Long Island, Caroline was the Editor-in-Chief of
The WALK Magazine—helping to reinvigorate it after it
went defunct years ago—and was President of the Penn Fashion Collective. She was also a member of the Sphinx senior honor society, went abroad to Beijing
and majored in Communications. After graduating, she worked at McKinsey & Company in New York; now, she spends her time developing Headliner and
getting it ready for public release.

A few years back, iPhone games were all the
rage. I still remember those long–lost high
school free periods that I spent sitting in the
cafeteria, actively ignoring my friends so I
could focus my complete attention on that
week's hottest—or dumbest—game. But have
you ever wondered what your old choice in
iPhone game says about your personality
now? Worry no more, because you're about to
find out.

If you're at all like me, you've probably heard a lot about
the iPhone that was recovered after the 2015 San Bernardino attack but didn't
know jack shit about what was actually going on. Here it is in a nutshell: After the shootout that ended up leaving both perpetrators, Syed Rizwan Farook
and Tashfeen Malik dead (along with fourteen victims), the San Bernardino police recovered an iPhone 5c that
belonged to one of them. The FBI wanted to view its contents to get more
information about the attack, but ended up not being able to unlock the phone, and then issued a court order trying to force Apple to unlock it. Apple refused. What happened next was a massive, nationwide debate about the issues of personal privacy versus national security.

Unless your head is firmly stuck up your ass, you've probably noticed that there's an Ivy League snap story on Snapchat that has been around since last semester. As you can surmise from the name, it covers all eight Ivy League schools and offers a glimpse into the lives of the nerdiest kids in the country. Not every snapchat makes it on though. You tend to never see snaps from parties or ~riskier~ events, unless it's a special concert or something along those lines. Overall, it's pretty PG. I've personally never been blessed enough to make it onto the Ivy League snap story, but luckily, some of Penn's more famous individuals decided to share their stories.

Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and sadly, some people here at Penn won't be with their loved ones to celebrate the day. Thankfully, in the year 2016, it's easier than ever to send off a quick sexy text to whoever you want to set the mood. We decided to interview members of the Penn community to find out just where we stand on sexting. Here are some of our favorite answers.

The future is now. Google Cardboard, a device that allows users to experience virtual reality at an extremely low cost, has been
out since 2014, but has only started to gain traction recently. For only $5 ($5!!) you can travel the world, play games or
watch movie trailers in 3D. The Google Cardboard devices themselves are made
out of low–cost materials such as cardboard (fucking duh) and lenses composed of small pieces of glass. Interestingly enough, Google doesn't manufacture
the devices itself. Instead,
different companies (including Google) sell kits with the parts
included, so as to allow for more access to the device. Once you buy a kit, it's up to you to put the device together, kind of like IKEA (but you
probably won't want to strangle yourself halfway through assembling it).

Let's take a trip back to a simpler time. It was the winter of 2014, I was in high school, and the polar vortex was ripping through the East Coast (and it sort of still is). The one thing that got me through from one day to the next was a singular app on my phone: Flappy Bird.

By now, you may or may not have heard of the new free app Peach, which came out Friday, Jan. 8, 2015. Basically, if Facebook, Twitter and Instagram got drunk and had a threesome, Peach would be their illicit lovechild. Peach was created by Dom Hoffman, co–creator of Vine, and released by the company Byte Inc. Street took the liberty of breaking it down for you so you don’t have to waste fifteen important minutes trying to figure it out. If, even after this mediocre review, you feel compelled to make an account, add me @zoealbanooritt (yeah I plugged myself, ask me if I give a fuck) (Ed. note: really though, she has like 2 friends, so add her.)
