Once you get past the inexplicable “V” in “CHVRCHES” and the ensuring pronunciation issues (it’s definitely “churches” if you were wondering), you can’t get past the band’s infectious, synthy sound. In this new music video for “Lies” off their debut album, there are a lot of sinister-looking people in suits and creepy flickering screens. Possibly a metaphor for our complacent acceptance of media brainwashing? Who knows—you never really got through "1984" in high school anyway. You might not be sure what exactly is going on in this video or what it’s about, but you’ll like it.
