How to get there: It is quite literally a straight shot from campus. Veer north to Walnut and continue until just after 31st Street (opposite the ice skating rink).

Listen to: The band you’re going to see—whether or not you’re already a fan, the walk over is prime time to get in the concert mood. Check out World Cafe Live radio, free on their website, or look them up Spotify/SoundCloud/your favorite music app.

Go for: The concerts. Check out their full schedule (tickets.worldcafelive.com/calendar) of shows in two different venues, Upstairs and Downstairs. Discover a new favorite band, from the Morningsiders, a Fistful of Sugar or SambaDa, the west coast’s hottest Brazilian band. Still not convinced? Check out a free show your first time—try the Monday Jazz Jam (weekly, 5:30 p.m.) or a Penn lecture series for a no–cost burst of culture.

Bonus: The Cafe offers daily lunch specials ($8–$10) and a self–proclaimed best happy hour in town (weekdays from 4–6 p.m.) if you’re looking for a break from campus food and drink options.Their goat cheese and macerated strawberries served on brioche will put Wawa meatball subs to shame. (Caution: closed for lunch on Wednesdays).
