At 3:30 a.m. on January 15, 2001, three prisoners held in Oklahoma State Penitentiary's "Super Max" underground security prison pried the toilets loose from their cells and crawled through the plumbing system. Running across the grounds in the cold air, they threw their makeshift grappling hooks pipes attached to shredded bed sheets over the first of the razor-wire fences. Nathan Washington, known to other inmates as "Moon," got tangled in the razors and turned back. The other two kept going. That night, convicted kidnapper Willie Lee "Worm" Hoffman and convicted murderer James Robert Thomas became the first prisoners ever to escape Oklahoma's H-Unit the prison within the prison. The tower guards were allegedly distracted by crossword puzzles.

Playing it Straight -- Fox's new reality series set on a dude ranch in Elko, Nevada -- premiered two weeks ago and asked the question: can a single cowgirl tell the difference between gay and straight cowboys? A college student from Appleton, Wisconsin, Jackie was up to the challenge, but after three "straight" eliminations, perhaps she roped herself a steer bigger than she can handle. "I don't think I have a good gaydar, because I'm not really one to judge others," she says. "From being in the student life and diversity and groups, you just learn everyone is the same."

The Super Bowl, the culmination of 20 glorious weeks of professional football, is right around the corner. Although many Philadelphians will not be able to enjoy the clash between the Pats and the Panthers, Eagles fans can rest comfortably this year, expecting commercials ranging from Willie Nelson for H&R Block to the return of Tarry Tate: Office Linebacker. For years, these commercials have been bringing ESPN and Lifetime Network viewers together. This year, that togetherness can be purchased for the small sum of $2.25 million for every 30 seconds -- a fee the advertisers are only too happy to pay. Since Street cannot predict the upcoming commercials -- Al Gore and Tipper talking about Levitra, anyone? -- we've decided to give you the Best and Worst Super Bowl Commercials of all time (Editor's Note: By all time, he actually means in very recent memory, and by best and worst, he actually has no idea what he's talking about).

Faced with slumping sales, the record industry has tried new methods -- like including a bonus CD or DVD with albums -- to provide consumers with incentives to buy rather than download. Metallica's St. Anger, for example, came with a bonus DVD of all the album's songs played live in rehearsal, as well as access to a vault of bootleg concert recordings. To prevent pre-release file sharing, Guster released a "Meow Mix" of their new album's songs onto Kazaa. These tracks featured the same instrumentation and back-up vocals as the final album, but with meowing instead of vocals. The thought was that the incomplete versions would make finding the real versions close to impossible. Such methods, however, are quickly becoming outdated as new releases include much more over the top material to entice buyers.
