This album’s all about “good for nothing types of brothers” — you know, guys who don’t pay their girls’ bills, say their names or know when to stop paging them. Clearly I’m not the intended audience, but I can deal with the looks I get while I bump it in my car because it’s just so good. Beyonce’s at her finest on “Say My Name,” and “Bug a Boo” blends elements of R&B and hip-hop over a great, choppy beat. DC remain underrated today even though they were the best pop group of their time. Maybe it’s because Beyonce’s solo career has eclipsed her chart success with Destiny’s Child or maybe it's because they were popular during a time when singing trios were all the rage. But while others relied on the salesmanship of Lou Pearlman and the crazy-cool dance moves of JC Chasez, Destiny’s Child actually made catchy, soulful singles that still work a decade later.
