At first glance, Three Sirens looks practically indistinguishable from every other clothing boutique in Old City. Nestled among the shops, galleries and restaurants of North 3rd Street, the boutique doesn’t inspire any sense of retail originality.

But according to owner Amy Nanos, Three Sirens is the “most girly and feminine” boutique in the area. “Nothing against vintage,” she clarifies, but the clear focus of this shop’s collections is a colorful, comfortable and affordable array of fresh frocks, accessories and jewelry. The store’s girly theme is reflected in its focus on dresses and jewelry, but you can also find a few pairs of shoes and sunglasses among the boutique’s merchandise.

The spacey front of the store contains Three Sirens’ seasonal collections, jewelry displays and current sales, while jersey knit leggings and requisite in–a–box thongs are among the curtained dressing rooms in the back. Though the inventory shifts enough to avoid a noticeable label loyalty, the store’s current stock features Blaque Label formal wear, Press cardigans and sweaters, Rebecca Minkoff and Cul–de–sac handbags and What’s–In–Store jewelry.

The vast majority of Three Sirens’ stock straddles the ‘too–cheap–to–not–purchase, but expensive–enough–to–make–you–guilty’ line with a distinctive Old City ease. Blouses and tops, mainly of “labels you wouldn’t recognize,” hover between $30 and $50, whereas the ‘manikin’ clothing — pretty much denim and dresses — can hit the $100 mark.

Three Sirens takes full advantage of the First Friday crowds that flock to North 3rd each month, usually offering complementary cupcakes and champagne (paired with hard–to–beat sales) to accompany the neighboring gallery openings.

And in the case that a cab fare or the unique smell of SEPTA has you campus bound, a selected portion of the store’s inventory is available for purchase on the boutique’s website, threesirens.com. Plus, with a sample sale of their spring inventory in tow, Three Sirens will be at the TriDelt chapter house this Friday from 3 to 6 p.m.
