Biden Fit to Teach Global Policy at Penn due to Tabard Connections

A Message from Amy Gutmann Regarding Vice President Joe Biden

A Message to the Penn Community Regarding Former Vice President Joe Biden

From Amy Gutmann, President

I am writing to let you know that Vice President Biden will become the Benjamin Franklin Presidential Practice Professor here at Penn. In this role, he will lead the Penn Tabard–Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, a new center focused principally on diplomacy and foreign policy. We feel that Vice President Biden’s vast experience, knowledge of world issues, and familial connection to Tabard will make him an ideal fit to enrich the work of Perry World House, a building that has already added so much to our academic community, such as new bathrooms and being my favorite talking point.

Biden will be working closely with the Annenberg School as well as Tabard itself to facilitate communication between Penn students and the broader global community. The Penn Tabard–Biden Center will be located in Washington D.C. and Domus, although he will also be setting up shop in Beverly Hills, the Upper East Side, Dubai, London, Paris and Madrid.

The Vice President is committed to global as well as community enrichment. He has demonstrated his dedication to philanthropy by stating that he plans on utilizing his Ray Bans to mask his face for the 2017 Tabard Masquerade Ball.

Students interested in working with him should feel free to reach out to him via QuakerNet, although a representative from Tabard has warned us that he might not be able to reply to anyone outside of the organization until the end of his first semester with the program.

The administration of the University of Pennsylvania is honored to have Vice President Joe Biden join us. We look forward to seeing the VP outside of VP.

The Problematic Office Politics of Sam Raimi’s ‘Send Help’

Sam Raimi’s Send Help turns a workplace outcast into a violent survivor who loses moral conflict as the story moves toward gore and spectacle. Rachel McAdams delivers the strongest part of the film while the story touches on workplace power and toxic relationships. The ending frames success as survival without guilt, which weakens the message about gender and power.
