About Meryl and the Streets

"We were pretty much just chillin'," lead singer Jason E. Francesco remembers. "We were blazed, you know, watchin' TV. Then Music of the Heart came on. If Meryl could get those retard kids to rock out, then like - well, she's got something going on. Wait - they were retarded, right?" The five Michigan natives had been playing together ever since they first saw the music video for Limp Bizkit's "Faith." "That song, like, it just was so, like." Bassist John O'Neill interjects: "Sweet?" Sweet, indeed. Within a year, they were selling out shows at the Patchogue County Jewish Youth Center. But in between wafting marijuana clouds in their freshman dorms, they realized they wanted something more - national recognition. They didn't have a name to fill the clubs. "My friend Dave was like, 'How about Hammertime?' But after Cancun '04, I just didn't know anymore."

Then came Meryl Street. And the rest is history.
