Tangerine is undoubtedly a Restaurant Week favorite, known for its unbeatable ambiance and food to match. However, the hidden gem of this restaurant may rest behind the bar with beverage director and mixologist Kevin Lundell. A self-proclaimed "mad chemist," Lundell takes inspiration for his cocktails from the Mediterranean food of the restaurant and insists on only the freshest of ingredients.
Eschewing the assembly line style of cocktail making that prevails in most bars, Lundell tries to make drinks that are accessible but unique, and the Citrus Amaro Runner fits the bill. Its use of the Italian-derived liqueur Amaro and San Pellegrino Aranciata soda give it the perfect blend of sweetness, bitterness, and acidity for a simple but sophisticated cocktail that still harkens back to the bar's Mediterranean influences.
Directions:
-Combine 1 oz. Nardini Amaro with 5 oz. San Pellegrino Arancia soda and 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice.
-Pour over ice and stir.
