Recipe of the Week

Ingredients:

1 challah or other eggy bread (brioche) cut into 1-inch cubes

3 eggs

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

8 oz chocolate chips

3 extra ripe bananas, mashed

Directions:

If the challah is still soft, lightly toast it in a 350-degree oven for 5 minutes. Let cool. In a big bowl mix the eggs, milk, salt and vanilla. Whisk for a few minutes to make it very airy. Fold in the bread, bananas and chocolate chips. Pour entire mixture into a loaf pan (9x5x3 inches is ideal). Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes, until the top is well browned and the center is not runny. Let cool for 10 minutes. Serve warm with whipped cream or your favorite ice cream.
