3/29: Caribou

Johnny Brenda's, 21+

Before most of you knew what a caribou was, there was a man named Daniel Snaith and his one-man electronica project called Manitoba. A legal battle over the rights to the name resulted, and Snaith was forced to adopt the animal name as his new moniker. It's rumored that the name choice was the result of a LSD trip in the wilderness, and it only takes attending his live show to understand why. Snaith fleshes out the Caribou name with a full-piece band and trippy video projections all synced up to his trance-inducing sounds. With up-and-coming noise/drone giants Fuck Buttons as support, this show is a great excuse to get in touch with your spirit animal.

4/2: Boredoms

Starlight Ballroom, All Ages

If there was ever a group of musicians that could harness the raw power of Japanese science-fiction monsters into sound, it would be Boredoms. The prolific group, with a discography of over seven full-length albums and countless other releases, is hardly classifiable into any genre, with an ever-evolving sound that spans over 20 years. Traveling all the way from Osaka, Japan for three U.S. shows on this tour, you must go to this one to hear - and see - the legendary group for yourself. Openers Black Pus (Brian Chippendale of Lightning Bolt) and Soft Circle (Hisham Bharoocha of Black Dice/Lightning Bolt) make this show one of truly epic proportions.
