If you’re in the market for being made up, massaged, waxed, or if you just want to smell nice — try Blue Mercury.

Located in a cozy shop on Walnut, just steps from Rittenhouse Square, Blue Mercury is a national luxury makeup and spa chain with a boutique feel.

A makeup display at the shop’s center reigns, governed by two long rows of brands including Nars, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown and Trish McEvoy. Along the sides of the shop, high-end skincare and hair products line the walls. For those who revel in tough-to-find hair products by the likes of Frederic Fekkai and Kiehl’s, Blue Mercury is a one-stop spot for your mane’s needs. As for skincare, luxurious lotions from Dermalogica and Bliss abound.

While a number of such products can be bought at nearby Sephora or in most department stores, the knowledgeable and kind staff make Blue Mercury a worthwhile stop. Unlike in department stores, the staff don’t represent a specific brand, so they’ll give you unbiased assistance in selecting the best products.

In addition to the eye shadow, lipstick and shampoo, Blue Mercury also carries a large selection of beautiful candles, home products and fragrances. Candles from Diptyque and perfumes from Fresh are worth a look for a nice, albeit pricey gift.

Beyond the goods in the front of the store, Blue Mercury also offers a full spa in the back. A full menu of facial and massage services are offered, as well as the full gamut of waxing needs. For a wax, ask for the speedy and spunky Kelly, a favorite of many Penn ladies.

For a luxury indulgence, Blue Mercury is a worthy spot — but prepare to leave with a potentially lighter wallet.
