Joke Issue:

John Pennypacker, captain of the football team, loves underground lairs and dance floor spotlights. This Sphinx senior was just named second–team All–American in lacrosse, but don’t try dragging him toward any farm animals this Fling.

Street: What’s the best Penny(packer) joke you’ve ever heard? John Pennypacker: I’m a dime a dozen! You know … cents and all. Also just that I pack in the pennies. Those are rare these days.

Street: How do you balance your time playing two varsity sports? JP: Lacrosse and football come easy to me. Working three jobs to keep that cardboard roof over my family’s head takes up a lot of time. Street: There are two types of people at Penn…? JP: Those who are still in Prohibition, and those who never were.

Street: What don’t most people know about you? JP: 1926–1931 Groton, Mass. Cherry Pie Festival Pie Baking Champion.

Street: What’s the most underrated thing at Penn? Overrated? JP: Underrated, the pool in Houston Hall. Overrated, Zete’s Petting Zoo. Street: What’s your favorite Philly hotspot? JP: Dusty Joe’s, hands down. That place is timeless.

Street: What song is playing when you enter the room? JP: “Blue Moon” … dancing with my leading lady under the spotlight.

Street: Who is the lucky lady? JP: Only one girl wears my class ring and varsity jacket. I love you, Betty May.

Street: Any guilty pleasures? JP: Exploring the tunnels under the quad. I swear to you that in 50 years nobody will be able to find them.
