As the seasons finally start to change and the brilliant green of the flora on campus becomes the muted oranges and browns of autumn, a bit of extra color could serve as a pick–me–up for all of us. One of the best ways to add some life to a dorm room or brighten a friend’s day is with a well–arranged bouquet of flowers, and Philly certainly has plenty of options.

Whether you’re searching for a charming arrangement of roses for your significant other, an inexpensive bouquet for your desk, a chic cluster of carnations and lavender, or even a catered selection of bouquets for a wedding, the city’s flower stalls and well–established florists have it all.

Petit Jardin en Ville

French charm—that's the only way to describe this Parisian florist and garden designer. The shop has a genuine foundation in French culture—the owners, Vincent and Claudia Roux, spend much of their lives in France, from where they take inspiration The storefront display and store layout present their selection of flowers beautifully, and the shopping experience is intimate. The amount of thought that went into the design of the shop and the creation of the floral arrangements is evidenced in the store's intentionally vintage, European–style romance. Although you may not be taking a trip to Paris any time soon, Petit Jardin en Ville can provide you timelessly glamorous arrangements and garden services that will bring Paris to you.

Flowers and Company

The florists at this shop are unparalleled in their friendliness and evident love for their jobs. The storefront presents an adorable seasonal display, with pumpkins, gourds, and orange mums welcoming customers into the shop. The flowers are exceptionally fresh, as they’re stored in a walk–in cooler. Chalk marker drawings of bees and the Philly LOVE Statue grace the walls behind the register, and the selection is vast. This shop in Center City is the place to go if you’re on the lookout for a lovely shopping experience and the freedom to either make your own bouquet or purchase a beautiful arrangement made on the spot.

Triple Tree Flowers

Run by Amish florists, these floral stands appear at the Clark Park and Rittenhouse Square farmers’ markets every week. Bouquets are made on the spot, and they’re utterly beautiful (and often seasonally inspired). The selection is incredible, especially given the fact that this is a stand rather than a physical store, and the florists allow you to either make your own bouquet from their freshly picked flowers or select one of their own creations. These stands are a foolproof option for a last–minute arrangement that stuns without draining your bank account.

Nature’s Gallery Florist

Nature’s Gallery is undeniably classy. The store is almost Victorian, with multiple teardrop chandeliers, a fireplace topped with bonsai trees, and a simple sign on the storefront. The selection of plants and flowers is idiosyncratic in a refreshing way. The shop provides wedding and special occasion bouquets that have an air of liveliness and sharpness. The owners are hospitable and the shopping experience is personalized. If elegance and character is your style, this is the florist for you.

Pure Design

This small shop’s modern ambiance and hip selection of house plants, pots, and vases set the scene for the florist’s polished arrangements. Upon walking into the shop, you are greeted by arrangements awaiting pick–up on the center table, a stunning chandelier, and small plants supported by stacks of books. The staff do not intrude on your shopping (which, depending on the shopper, could be either a deal breaker or a positive aspect of the experience). This is the place to go if you’re looking for hip, elegant floral arrangements at a middle–of–the–road price.
