In the past, your friendly neighborhood Street has not been known for its bubbling Penn Pride or its standards of human decency. In fact, at times we have been downright nasty. This is all about to change. Last night, our dreams were filled with vivid flashes of blue and red and we became born-again Quakers. To celebrate our recent conversion, Street has decided to profile members of the Penn community who, through their outstanding accomplishments, make us proud.

This week's Spirit of Ben Award goes to Josh Fields, College senior and player extraordinaire. We nominated Josh after his prestigious appearance in the October, 2001, issue of YM, in which Josh, 21, offers his playa expertise to the budding-though-still-years-from-legal audience.

Here is an actual excerpt from the YM roundtable interview. This shit is for real.

YM: So do you get bummed when a girl disses you?

Josh: You have to be like, "it's your loss."

YM: So who do you consider to be your ultimate player idols?

Josh: I think it's more about just doing your own thing. Girls pick up on that.

YM: How long does it take you guys to get ready before you go out?

Josh: I wear cologne because you have to smell good.

YM: How do you let the girls know that you don't want to be serious?

Josh: I'll stop making plans with them or not call them back. But I'd never blatantly ignore anyone.

YM: So when do you want to throw in the player towel?

Josh: I never want to lose the ability to go out and meet girls. It's so much fun to be single and say, all right--I want to go out with this girl tonight and that girl another night. Get a different flavor every week, you know?'

Street congratulates you, Josh Fields. Play on, playa.
