Go Out and Do Something

Kelly and West River Drives On the river drives you're guaranteed to see anything from a grown man on rollerskates gracefully pretending to be Brian Boitano to packs of serious bikers in Tour de France form. It's about four miles to the top of the drives, where you will find yourself in East Falls -- a quaint neighborhood where the catfish are plentiful. Attach a fishing rod to your bike and you can be one of many sportsmen in search of the catch du jour. If fishing isn't your thing, the trees along the Schuylkill are in bloom and are waiting for your appreciation as you rollerblade or run by. -- Jackie Rogozinski Rittenhouse Square 18th and Walnut Streets Rittenhouse Square perfectly combines the luminous and grassy expanse necessary for authentic picnicking without losing the prime people-watching experience that Philly offers. Go the whole nine yards and pair a perfectly crafted PB&J without the crusts with your old Rainbow Bright thermos of homemade ice tea on a traditional red and white gingham tablecloth. Alternatively, for the less Martha Stewart inclined, ordering up a David Seals The Deal and a Snapple to go isn't a disgraceful option. Either way, taking advantage of the ultimate Philly picnic spot should be at the top of your laundry list of things to do before heading home after finals. -- Rachel Josue Phillies Veterans Stadium 3601 S. Broad Street $10-$26 (215) 336-2000 The Vet is one huge nest of death, a place where civilization has died and been replaced by red-and-blue anarchy. Philadelphia fans are a special kind of fan. Nationally, they are known to be belligerent, drunk, and unruly -- recall the battery "incident" with the Cardinals. They like to put the fear of God in most teams and those that dare to enter the stadium. The 700 level at Veterans Stadium, soon to be the former home of the Phillies, attracts this type of person --raising the entertainment factor at least 100 percent. --Klair Spiller Philadelphia Zoo

3400 W Girard Ave (215) 243-1100 It's a beautiful spring day, and you want to be outdoors, get some sun and watch parents invent implausible ridiculous explanations to the question: "Why is that turtle jumping on top of his friend?" Come to the zoo! It's great for learning about the birds and the bees -- or the Galapagos tortoises and orangutans, whichever came first. Cute and fuzzy more your bag? Have a lemur crawl through your legs at Lemur Trail, or go see Daisy the sloth bear beg for forbidden treats. The Zoo: smelly fun with the animals. -- Patrick Zimmerman
