Compared to some of its big city brethren, Philadelphia is seriously lacking in flea market options. Take advantage of this monthly opportunity to exercise your prudent frugality close to home. More or less a neighborhood garage sale, the monthly flea market also promises vintage, ethnic wares, and kebabs. Saturday, July 23, 9 a.m–5 p.m.
This long–running farmer’s market has built a reputation for its promotion of health and nutrition in West Philadelphia. Vendors come from within a 200 mile radius, mostly within Pennsylvania. Since man cannot live on Ramen noodles alone, treat yourself with some fresh, guilt–free fare. Saturdays, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., Thursdays, 3-7 p.m.
The crown jewel of Clark Park’s summer season, Shakespeare in Clark Park returns this week for its 6th annual production. This year, Much Ado About Nothing will transform the park into an Elizabethan stage. One of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies, the play follows a rivalry between two lovers so obviously meant for one another that everyone in town knows it but them. Beat the summer slump and refresh your English skills with some breezy and free entertainment. Thursday–Sunday, July 21–24, 7 p.m.
