Movies we were too prudish to see

Back in the day, John Holmes was the biggest -- and therefore the best -- in the biz. "Johnny Wadd" starred in more than 2000 adult productions and reportedly bedded more than 10,000 women over the course of his career -- including his wife.

Probably the only guy who might really have been hornier than Ron Jeremy, he was well-endowed. Really, really well-endowed. He died of AIDS in '88, after being tried and acquitted for the infamous "Laurel Canyon" murders in '81, on which the biopic Wonderland is based.

Hard Candy, being shown in 3-D at the Roxy, was Holmes' last film before his career went flaccid. (Wonderland is currently at The Roxy, too.) And if you're too chicken to see him in action, be him in action at http://www.whoisjohnholmes.com/wad.html.

‘Wicked: For Good’ is for the Theatre Kids

Wicked: For Good closes its story without awards recognition but with clear creative conviction. The film’s reception reflects a mismatch between its intentions and critical expectations. Designed as the second half of a continuous narrative, it prioritizes character depth and long-term emotional payoff over accessibility. In doing so, For Good succeeds less as a crowd-pleaser and more as a film made for those already invested in the world of Wicked.
