While we all enjoy the challenge of surviving on bursar alone, the fact still remains that Houston doesn't serve martinis ... And without a swipe of the handy-dandy Penn card to foot the bill, eight dollars can seem pretty steep for a pomegranate-champagne infusion at some Stephen Starr institution. So let's be real here. No self-respecting alcohol enthusiast has only one drink. Trust us. We know. Sure, throwing down a Benjamin for a round of drinks (or two, or three, or 10) looks fairly fly in P. Diddy videos, but most of us just don't have that kind of cash to burn. Here at Street, however, your humble food and drink editors see/empathize with your sobriety and want to lend a helping hand. Every week, we will drink each other under the table in a valiant effort to research the habit we fondly call "broke as fuck boozing." Call us noble. Call us educators. Or call us alcoholics. Whatever.

While you may not be able to bursar booze at Dmitri's, two for $5 Bloody Marys and mimosas won't exactly put a strain on your wallet, or Louis Vuitton clutch, as it were. For the low price, you'd expect one of these morning cocktails to have trouble getting a kindergartner buzzed -- but believe us, they pack a punch. Or, at least enough to make last night's events a little less embarrassing. And you were probably embarrassing.

While you'll be more interested in strong coffee and an even stronger drink, the brunch at Dmitri's isn't half bad. Typical fare like omlettes dominate the menu, which is fine, considering Sunday morning is no time to be adventurous. But enough about food. We're here to talk about the cheap booze.

To be perfectly honest, this place was made for hungover brunches. And like we said, we know. Seriously. The abundant outside seating is a welcome change from your typical Saturday night routine (Smoke's). Or, if you don't feel like braving the sun, smoking is allowed inside.

So there you have it: Nickie and Grant's first official booze endorsement. Call us what you will, but believe us when we say that there's nothing better than a Dmitri's mimosa to start your day of rest.
