If you're looking to enjoy a burger, beer and some atmosphere in the heart of Center City - without the Rittenhouse snobbery - Good Dog is your one-stop shop for an enjoyable evening. The music from the jukebox is loud, but this bar isn't just a local watering hole - those who are in the know come here to eat too.

As for the burger, it's true to its claim of one-half pound in weight. The two major choices are the Good Dog Burger ($10), stuffed with Roquefort cheese and topped with caramelized onions on a toasted brioche, or the Traditional Burger ($9), that lacks the cheese stuffing and onions, served with lettuce and tomato instead. Though the burgers are cooked to order and tasty as well, there's very little that's special about them other than the Roquefort stuffing.

The standard fries are unique in that they are a surprising mix of traditional crispy boardwalk-style fries and sweet potato fries. And depending on personal preference, each or both can be enticing.

Though they may not have the best burgers in Philly, the Good Dog is a great place to go with a group of friends - especially during happy hours from 5pm-7pm during the week and 4pm-6pm on Saturday. The Dog's "neighborhood bar" feel makes it the kind of place you'd want to spend the night sipping brewskies and watching the game. But with the Eagles out, maybe you'll just have to settle for a Yeungling with the The Daily Show playing in the background.

And the bouncers here are strict- so proper (or proper looking) ID is a must.
