We've all heard the adage “if you don't have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” So instead of bashing The Pink Panther 2, a film whose very existence should make one question the sanity of movie execs (no one liked the first one, guys), I'm going to try to extol its few-and-far-between merits.

First of all, Bollywood staple Aishwarya Rai’s hair looks really shiny in this movie. Her cascading chestnut tresses are a Pantene Pro-V ad waiting to happen. While some actors strive to act from the heart, she acts from the hair.

And Steve Martin. Once upon a time, Steve Martin was a comic genius. Now, alas, he may have fallen victim to yet another Ponzi scheme, this time involving the production rights to these incessant remakes. Such trickery must also have captured co-stars John Cleese, Andy Garcia and Lily Tomlin. But back to nice things about Steve: he looks good in four-button blazers, and has the most unconvincing French accent in the film (and that's saying something).

The only appropriate response to this movie is to snort contemptuously at it in a very French way, perhaps while wearing a beret and smoking a cigarette.
