Any will girl will tell you “it’s all about playing the game.” In A Game For Girls, director Matteo Rovere showcases the lives of four beautiful, wealthy Italian high school girls and the sinister tricks they play on others. When these Heather-ish girls discover another student has told the principal about their smoke sesh in the bathroom, Elena (Blair Waldorf meets Regina George) sprays her with a fire hose in the girls’ changing room. But that’s child’s play. Elena rules her gang and all the men her friends encounter, but she faces her ultimate challenge when she becomes infatuated with destroying the new, well-meaning Italian teacher, Mario Landi. As kitschy and predictable as the film is, the ending will leave even the most desperate housewife surprised. In this Italian Sin-ema viewers can expect a deliciously guilty tale filled with the stuff that drives any soap opera, chock full of enough sex, drugs, bulimia, suicide and house music to please even the most jaded of fans.
