February 11th, 2011, 11:00 AM: LCD Soundsystem tickets go on sale on Ticketmaster.

February 11th, 2011, 11:01 AM: LCD Soundsystem tickets sell out on Ticketmaster. Huge Internet shitstorm follows courtesy of StubHub and frontman James Murphy’s Twitter.

For the rest of the day, Twitter was alive as Murphy apologized to his fans, cursed StubHub and #feltlikekanye. Thousands of fans had their dreams crushed, leaving them to damn the now–exorbitant prices of formerly cheap tickets. Some even made accusations of a conspiracy between Ticketmaster and StubHub.

While I was momentarily heartbroken by my failure to acquire floor tickets to LCD’s much–publicized last stand, I was able to breathe a sigh of relief when I managed to get a ticket courtesy of Pitchfork (way up high, in Madison Square Garden’s Mt. Everest section). But I still wanted more, lusting for  eardrum–shattering beats and boosts that I could be hearing on the floor. So I hopped onto eBay and subsequently discovered that some people valued my own tickets at around $1,400.

Now I’m at impasse: I can either sell my body in order to earn enough money to buy GA tickets from a close friend, or prepare myself for the tens of thousands of feet I must ascend to watch a concert through binoculars. Although the concept of working the streets definitely has a certain appeal, I think I would prefer to risk my life on Kilimanjaro.

I’m not the only one suffering, though. James Murphy is kicking himself right now; he seems to actually care about his fans. Unfortunately, he didn’t read up on his venue; otherwise, he might have discovered Madison Square Garden’s efficient credit card–based will call system, which would’ve at least offered some degree of a solution to ticketing woes.

At least now I know for sure that all Murphy wants is my pity… let alone my bitter tears.
