The Philadelphia Charge were on my flight out to California in April, and I sat behind Lorrie Fair and next to Jenny Benson. You probably don't know those names, but the Charge is my favorite professional women's soccer team that plays in Villanova, Pa.. Women's soccer is much better than women's basketball. Philly doesn't have a team in the WNBA anyway. Go see the Charge and cheer on your team with 7,000 pre-pubescent girls. You can pick up their soccer moms at halftime.

I can't believe that there was such a big journalistic scandal at the Weekly World News -- the newspaper that broke the "Bat Boy" story. I mean, you have one guy, Jayson Blair, outright making up things, and then you have Rick Bragg using people to do his research for him and not crediting them, and the two top editors resigning. I mean, I can't believe the nation's paper of record would lie and deceive the reader! What that? It wasn't the Weekly World News? It was the New York Times? OK, makes sense then.

Have you ever been to Preakness? Because I have. It's this horse race, right smack dab in the middle of the Triple Crown. Anyway, it's in Baltimore, which is where I'm from, and it's basically Mardi Gras for the day. 80,000 people cram into a muddy infield. Then they drink. Then they, get this, REMOVE THEIR SHIRTS. It's a good time, horse racing and drinking. Did I mention it starts at, oh, nine in the morning? Because it does. And believe me, the people who show up at nine in the morning show up drunk. So even though it doesn't start until four in the afternoon for god's sake, count on me to start celebrating Happy Hour at Philadelphia Park Racetrack. And you should come too. I look damn sexy topless.

Do you remember the Lemonheads? Big band in the early 90's, around the time of grunge apparently. I don't really remember. I think I remember someone putting on a Lemonheads CD at the party where I had my first kiss. But we won't go into that. Anyway, the point is that Evan Dando was once the frontman of the Lemonheads. He was also, um, well, somewhat into drugs. Which is alright, because, hell, who isn't? Am I right? But now he's not into drugs anymore, he says. Except, well, when he is. Cokeheads can be confusing sometimes. So now he's gone solo, and he's coming to the Troc. I'd tell you more, but pretty much all I know about the guy is that he used to do a lot of drugs. I'm a total failure.
