What results from combining The Sixth Sense and Fight Club and then subtracting the good acting and violence? Crap. Stay follows the story of a depressed art student, Henry (Ryan Gosling), as his suicidal tendencies lead the audience on a wild goose chase to a surprise ending. Ewan McGregor plays Sam Foster, a New York psychologist who attempts to unravel Henry's mind and past in an attempt to keep him from diving off the top of the Brooklyn Bridge. With the help of his also-suicidal girlfriend Lila (Naomi Watts), Sam attempts to discover why Henry is pulling a Haley Joel Osment and whether the lad is Brad Pitt or Edward Norton from Fight Club.

Director Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster's Ball) kills half of the movie by using cheap psychological tricks to slowly unravel the mystery, which having seeing the trailer isn't much of a surprise; anyone who's spent 10 seconds in Shatte's Psych 001 class can figure it out. Considering the talent involved, this should have been a much smarter film.
