Nothing says "Welcome back to college, Philadelphia students," like an onslaught of free stuff. Luckily, the people who run Campus Philly have picked up on this and created Campus Philly Kick-Off, a free event for all college students. On Sunday, this organization attempts to bring together students from Philly's 21 colleges to socialize on Benjamin Franklin Parkway. All college students get in free to ten different locations around Philly, including The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Institute of Contemporary Art and yes, Eastern State Penitentiary. Additionally, there will be concerts by Talib Kweli, Against Me and The Ataris, as well as a freestyle motocross demo and freestyle skateboarding. IKEA and other furniture favorites will also be hosting giveaways so students can get even more swag. Best of all, your Penncard is your entrance ticket. And you thought it would only get you into Pottruck and Smoke's. So, what are you waiting for? Go mingle with those Drexel kids!

Are you sick of trying to snag dates by making eyes across Van Pelt bookshelves? Feel as though there just hasn't been enough neon in your life lately? Looking for a venue with new and exciting opportunities for double entendres and "that's what she said" jokes? If you answered "yes" to one or more of these questions, or if you're just sick of the typical Thursday night fare at Penn, look no further than Center City tonight, where Philly singles will be flocking to get their bowl on. A lot cooler than your typical alley, Lucky Strike provides the perfect groovy setting to chat with potential hook-ups and even grab a drink (if, you know, you're into that kind of thing). Twenty dollars covers shoes, two hours of bowling and the chance to mack to your heart's desire, so head on over and do your best to keep your balls away from the gutter (that's what she said!).

Kenn Kweder, a.k.a. the musical genius behind the popularity of Tuesday nights at Smoke's, is having a DVD release party this Friday. The DVD package, A Million Light Years of Kenn Kweder: Pandemonium Live!, features his live performances from 1972 until 2007. Clips of his many bands, from the Secret Kidds to the Men From WAWA, are included in this documentary-style film by John Henderson. Kweder is credited with single-handedly creating Philadelphia's original rock music scene; he convinced club owners that people would pay to see local, unsigned talent. Described as "a circus," "a riot" and even "a religious experience," Kweder's live performances constantly reaffirm his influential position in contemporary music. More than a part of Philadelphia's music history, Kweder is a staple of nightlife at Penn. To capture his story on DVD and maybe even gain official groupie status, head over to Serrano & Tin Angel this weekend!

Under most circumstances, digging up graveyards is creepy, criminal and a prelude to some clich‚ horror movie. But for archaeologists, these excavations are just another day on the job. River of Gold, Penn Museum's newest exhibit, tells the intriguing story of the 1940 Sitio Conte expedition, in which a Penn-led team went to Panama to investigate reports of gold ornaments simply washing ashore from the local river. Four months and 6,600 pounds of artifacts later, the team has brought their findings to the Penn Museum to show them off to the world. However, the best part of the exhibit is the loot itself, which has enough bling to put Snoop Dogg to shame. Carved ivory statues, gold beads and beautiful golden pendants are the showcases of the collection. And to see these riches, you don't have to pay a dime: admission is free to all Penn students.

Back in high school, all the cool kids banded together and called themselves "The In Crowd." The N Crowd is kind of like that, only a lot funnier and a lot less obnoxious. If you're looking for something new, check out the improv stylings of Philadelphia Style Magazine's 2006 Best Comedy Club and Best Theatre Group. This ten person troupe entertains audiences every Friday night with their crazy voices and slapstick comedy. The intimate black box theatre sits 23 people on the second floor of the Artist's Center, tucked away in Old City. Unlike the TIC of high school days, this performance includes the entire audience, allowing all to participate. The show's humor all depends on the enthusiasm of the crowd, so might I suggest dining at a BYO before? The theater is conveniently located on the same block as some of Philly's favorite BYOs. Group rates are available - being a member of a clique may even work to your advantage.
