Give Me 5s

Caroline Rhea and Colin Quinn

Keswick Theatre

291 N. Keswick Avenue, Glenside

Friday, 8 p.m., $35-$45

(215) 572-7650

http://www.keswicktheatre.com/

Remember when the highlight of your weekend was the Friday night line-up on TGIF and Saturday Night Live at 11:30 PM on Saturdays? TGIF had quality shows like Boy Meets World and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and SNL was funnier than MAD TV. Well, relive the glory days and join Colin Quinn (of "Weekend Update" fame) and Caroline Rhea (Sabrina's immortal aunt) at the Keswick Theatre this Friday Night. They will be performing back to back stand-up comedy routines and hopefully reference the high points of their comedic careers. It seems quite a deal that for $29.50 you're guaranteed a night of quality comedy circa 1998. Although you can't reminisce with Melissa Joan Hart or Will Ferrell, these supporting players will do the trick.

Beef & Beer Auction

William Way Community Center

1315 Spruce Street

Friday, 8-11 p.m., $25

http://www.phillyrugby.com/

If you're a sports enthusiast with a philanthropic heart, then mosey on down to the Philadelphia Gryphons' Beef and Beer Auction this coming Friday. The event is being held in a fundraising spirit as the Gryphons are trying to raise enough money to attend Ireland's Bingham cup in summer 2008. This is your chance to get your party on with the rugbymen of this fine town. But don't let the event's title deceive you: while there will be a buffet filled with meaty options for those of you with carnivorous tendencies, there will also be vegetarian-friendly options. And to further this spirit of compromise, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be served. A mere $15,000 away from their target, the team needs your support. Buy your tickets by the handful, grab a mug, and pray that you don't get tackled.

Sick of the Penn dating scene? Ready to branch out further east? This Saturday, venture down to Chinatown for a fabulous meal and tour aimed at Philly singles. The tour, aptly titled Wok N' Walk, offers a generous four-course lunch (complete with wonton soup, spring rolls and green tea) and makes stops at a Chinese medicine shop, a Chinese bakery and best of all, a fortune cookie factory. Additionally, the tour includes a Tai Chi demonstration and a Chinese vegetable carving demonstration. Who wouldn't want to experience a tour featured on the Food Network? So hurry down to Chinatown, and who knows, you might even pick up a few numbers. At the very least, you'll enjoy non-Beijing Chinese food and find out how they get the fortunes inside the cookies.

So if you're headed in that direction, veer towards the Valley Forge Convention center and check it out. Talk about a gold mine.

Urinetown: The Musical

Annenberg Center - Harold Prince Theatre

3680 Walnut Street

Thursday-Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. $7-$10

(215) 898-3900

We've all seen it: a shifty figure disappears into a dark alley, unzips his fly, and proceeds to relieve himself. It may be disgusting, but we can all (begrudgingly) acknowledge that nature sometimes calls at the most inconvenient of times. When you gotta go, you gotta go. But what if public urination was the only option? This extremely important issue is addressed in the well-known musical satire Urinetown. This appropriately named comedic masterpiece revolves around a small town where a 20-year drought has plunged (pun intended) the townsfolk into a state of extreme water scarcity. The use of private toilets is unthinkable and access to public facilities is controlled by a domineering corporation. To see how the story unfolds, join the Pennsylvania Players for a night of song and. urine. It's sure to be a royal flush.
