Psychedelphia

Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St.

7-9 p.m., April 20th

So. It's 4/20. And you're really fucking high. And you want to make things. You know, create. What to do? Head to Psychedelphia, sponsored by the Kelly Writers House, Center for Programs in Contemporary Writing and SPEC Fully Planned, which invites you to become more than just a static observer. Usually, everything in a gallery is still or in slow motion, from the stationary works on the walls to the turtle pace of gallery goers. Psychedelphia, however, will be an interactive experience where artists of all kinds will display their work, awaiting not only your perusal, but your contribution as well. All visitors will be invited to create works of visual art, music or poetry, and all the creations - musical sounds, words, light, paint drips - will happen in the time-space continuum that is the Rotunda. The space itself will be arranged in a way that fosters creative production and encourages the influence of each section on the others. A gallery goer in this case will be working with living, moving people - either by including them in the art or simply by sharing a fluid workspace with them. Think 1960s art fusion in a modern atmosphere, with music, interactive installations and colorful, imaginative people. So smoke pot. And go unleash the tortured artist within.
