Walk of Shame

Oh, mid-October. It may be getting colder, but kids, things are heating up. Why is it during this time of year that we begin to spot walks of shame — in excessive numbers — all over campus? We here at Street have a theory. Perhaps it’s the “Fall Break complex,” which generally involves that first fateful trip home of the year. Exes from home are spotted, high school pals are annoying and you’re just kinda bored. Upon your return to Penn, promiscuity seems more than acceptable.

The most amusing early morning walks to witness are certainly those that occur right through the middle of campus, but the truth is, most occur west of 40th Street. We even spotted one bra-less, shoe-less perpetrator in our 'hood. And on a Wednesday night... oops! Before break (and presumably, pre-many a walk 'o shame), Castle attracted the Grey Goose-loving crowd to Zee Bar and OZ threw an “OZtoberfest” party… clever, guys. Meanwhile, all your junior friends who are abroad in Europe ventured to Munich for the real Oktoberfest, where there was actually a Natty Light alternative.

As far as celeb walks of shame are concerned, we hear Mark Wahlberg made an appearance at Pod, which is kind of like the time he followed some Theos juniors to their formal. (We don't think his fiance and kids were in tow that time though.) Until next time girls, keep rockin' those oversized button-downs, because as we all know, walks of shame are the ultimate in see-and-be-seen.

Das Guttah is back from a brief hiatus with the biggest news of the semester — hell, the year: as a sighting in front of Tap House a fortnight ago confirmed, the infamous Coke Twins are back. Apparently, they’ve shacked up with their parents in the Philly area and plan on stopping by campus between shenanigans.

Us pesky Penn kids just can’t seem to stay out of trouble! When gaggles of excited greeks were carted off (like the cattle they are?) on buses to the land of Vineyard Vines and lawn parties, it was almost inevitable that shenanigans would ensue.

Still reeling from [insert egregious Halloween–homecoming contraction here]? With the 2010ers back to relive the glory days — too soon, we think — trying to reclaim their thrones and pushing our beloved Smoke’s to full capacity, boy was last weekend hard. It seemed the boys of Phi Delt had a similar encounter with harsh hands, though an OFSA–sized slap on the wrist hardly seems comparable to dropping the soap these days.
