Archie’s too-cool-for-school rock star friends, Josie (Rachael Leigh Cook), Melody (a pre-train wreck Tara Reid) and Valerie (Rosario Dawson) leap off the comic book pages and onto the big screen in this tongue-in-cheek comedy. The musical pussycats are scooped up by the music industry and their songs are used to insert subliminal messages to turn teenagers into purchase-hungry zombies. Like, hello! Gatorade is the new Snapple!

The girls face a typical moral dilemma — wear cat ears, dupe their peers into buying records and following needless trends OR stand up to subliminal advertising! Luckily, the cats take the high road, but not before getting full-blown makeovers and a hit single in their first week in the business.

Hilarity ensues when Alan Cumming and Parker Posey’s characters, Wyatt Frame (a closet albino) and Fiona (aka “Lithping Litha”) act as the king and queen of the music industry.

All in all, this heartwarming tale reminds us that underdogs prevail … and that orange is totally the new pink.
