14th Annual Bacchanal Wine Gala and Auction

Pennsylvania Academy for the Fine Arts 128 North Broad St. Price:  However much you’re willing to spend at an art auction Nov 10, 7 p.m. http://www.pafa.org/bacchanal2012/

You’re celebrating your induction into Castle and you need an appropriately high–society event. Why not an art auction and wine gala?  Nothing says “I went to an Ivy” like drinking hundred(s)–dollar bottles of wine and splurging on art to hang over your fireplace mantle.  Also, apparently wine comes in units called “Nebuchadnezzars.”

Just declared your art history major?  Do you believe in “new art serving as a platform for cultural exchange”?  If so, you’re no longer alone — so do the folks at Bodega.  This month, stop in for a multimedia, “conceptual” from the folks at the online “Sex Magazine.”  C’mon, it has “sex” in the title!

36th Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show

Philadelphia Convention Center 1101 Arch St. Nov 8–11 $15 for single–day adult passes, $20 for two days http://pmacraftshow.org/

195 international craft artists converge on the Pennsylvania Convention Center to sell their tchotchkes, sculptures, textiles, paintings and more.  At night, various cocktail soirees take place.  In addition to arts and crafts, the event offers “beer and business”— isn’t that why most of us are at Penn?

Second Annual Flashpoint Brewfest

Triumph Brewing Company 117 Chestnut St. Nov 10, 1– 4pm $25 to drink, $10 to attend http://www.flashpointtheatre.org/events.html

Love local theater, but can never force yourself to donate to Philly theater companies?  Well, come to the Flashpoint Brewfest, all you have to do is sample the microbrews to make a difference in an artist’s life — the proceeds go to the Flashpoint Theater Company.  Plus, it’s tax–deductible!  The Salvation Army should really adopt this policy.
