Old city flowers 31 S. 3rd St. Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (215) 215-3467
Does a man writing about flower shops make him more or less of a man? Old City Flowers is, in fact, a flower shop ... and nothing else. It is not a show palace or a large convention hall, but merely a small establishment that smells good. Because the word "Old" in Old City does not end with an "e," one might think that this was place duping you ... a bunch of regular dupers. A scam I tells you.
You won't find the shop at its proper geographical location. For some reason, the 30 block is not between the 20 and 40 blocks, so the store is a block away from where the layman would think it would be judging from the address. This location-based identity crisis does give the shop a little bit of mystique, as the store appears to not exist. However, all things aside, the products offered are tremendous.
Old City Flowers has been in existence for about 21 years. It's a classy place, and it smells good there. It's the shop where Fox, ABC and other networks go to get any special arrangements they need. And there's a reason for this -- the shop is good at what it does. The store specializes in European flowers, as well as a wide range of flowers from the Pacific, including those cool ones from Hawaii ... you know, the pink things. As you walk in, you will be surrounded by beautiful vines and an eye-catching arrangement of exotic and domestic flowers scattered all about the show room. You may be tempted to splurge, but don't worry -- credit cards are accepted.
Old City Flowers is the hot spot if you want a miniscule corsage, a full wedding arrangement or an "I'm sorry I cheated" bouquet that falls somewhere between the two in size. The store employees would prefer, however, that you do business after the holidays, as they are very busy. It's a great place ... With a very creative name.
