She Took Me Half the Way There
This week's installment brings you a Daytripper that's near and dear to our hearts. Of course we all know about the Quad, but who knows the low-down on the Quad during Fling Weekend? Well, we do; Fling's been the place to be for college students since 1972, and with about 20,000 people expected this year, you can expect the best and the brightest at their craziest. So here's a rundown of the most happening place to be this weekend. Go forth and prosper!
Ware
3650 Spruce St.
Although there may be less activity in the Lower Quad, there's still a bevy of things to enjoy while in your drunken stupor. Watch your favorite a cappella group or band perform live on stage, or break out the defibrillators for your fried Oreo binge. If you feel like having fun for a good cause, there're tons of Greek events like Pi-a-Chi and Theta twister. If your legs give out on you -- for whatever reason -- just pop a squat on the grass and watch that awkward pre-frosh from your high school prance around Junior Balcony with a lampshade on his head.
Fisher-Hassenfeld
3700 Spruce St.
Want to relive those childhood memories without seeing a therapist or slipping gently into a drug-induced coma? The Upper Quad is the perfect locale, with a moon-bounce, the velcro wall and that jousty thing, American Gladiator-style. Another stage rounds out these Fling activities, so that even FH residents won't miss out from those endearing 8 a.m. microphone checks or random juniors asking for a key to the bathroom. And everybody knows that the Nipple houses the best spot to smuggle in alcohol. If you're over the legal drinking age. Of course.
Riepe
310 S. 36th St.
Don't worry, there's nothing going on here. If you happen to live anywhere in Ware or Fisher-Hassenfeld, this is the place to actually get some sleep. And, according to industry insiders, Baby Quad is the single best place to pregame in peace and quiet.
Wynn Commons (Bonus!)
This wide open expanse will play host to O.A.R. this year. Seriously, O.A.R. If you lost faith in SPEC after last year's Sonic Youth debacle, then Friday's performance of this jam-rock band will hopefully reinstate your trust. Scratch Track, the opener, with its indie nouveau hip-hop acoustic-ness, should be enough to push your weekend over the edge.

Matt Duke

If you haven't heard of Truce for Tonight, you're not in the know at Penn; the group is visible at Frat parties and philanthropy events, and they do a kick-ass version of "Forgot about Dre."
