Penn’s well-coiffed crowd flocked to Adolf Biecker this week for some spa treatments straight out of Rittenhouse. From man-waxes to manicures (and complementary mini bottles of nail polish) this campus addition is sure to attract a polished crowd.

At last, a much-needed beauty oasis has opened in West Philadelphia. No longer must students brave shady establishments or long treks across the Schuylkill to meet their beauty needs. Now the razzle-dazzle of Rittenhouse is available right in our backyard with the new Adolf Biecker studio — providing high-quality hair, manicure and waxing services. As the store manager Laura Cropper describes, the studio distinguishes itself from others in its “dedication to bringing excellence through education.” Boasting a staff of highly trained estheticians and stylists, the studio offers a luxurious experience that's unrivaled in the area. In addition to traditional hair and nail services, the studio provides make-up, false eyelash application and body bronzing — a unique tanning-bed alternative. For all you men in need of some TLC, the studio offers services catered exclusively to a male clientele, including male manicures, body waxes and the infamous “manzilian,” a male Brazilian wax (ouch!). Thusly, lads, no more excuses for letting your chest sweater show through your V-Necks. But be warned that such luxury doesn’t come without a price tag. The studio’s main shortcoming is the high cost of its services. If you plan to be a regular, check out the loyalty program for some cost-saving measures, but don’t expect to save much.

Also be wary of limited capacity; this intimate space only has one nail station and waxing room.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that ever since the doors opened on Sep. 8, curious community members have been flocking in to check out this new attraction.
