Don’t miss the Cherry Blossom Festival in Fairmount Park this Sunday. From karate demonstrations to a Harajuku fashion show, the festival covers a wide spectrum of Japanese cultural activities. Some of the other events include origami and calligraphy workshops, taiko drumming, dancing by the students of Japan’s Tamagawa University, a performance by Tokyo geisha girls and a cosplay contest involving authentic anime fans. So for a cheap five bucks, take advantage of the opportunity to lounge under beautiful cherry blossoms, and deny the cruel unpredictability of east coast weather if only for a day.
