Music Video Sunday: Washed Out—"All I Know"

A matter of lost love and youth, the video begins with a guy filming his friend Victor, inquiring about the fallout of Victor’s relationship. After a dismissal of this ex’s relevance, the two friends pack a station wagon and hit the road. It’s a testimony to heartbreak, adventure and reckless adolescence, and it’s apparent that we’ve seen this kind of storyline before. Still, images of mountains, lakes, palm trees, deserts, and fields in a faded chromatic lens allow for an aesthetically pleasing experience, complementing the calming effects of synthesizers that ease you into a dream-like state. It’s nostalgia and it’s quintessential youth. Check it out.
