In East Passyunk, Sate Kampar sits comfortably between a men’s boutique and an antique shop. The coffee bar and open kitchen give the restaurant a casual vibe during the day, but the limited seating and dim lighting create a more cozy feel during the night. Visually, the BYO restaurant is more “hipster brunch” than “Malaysian street food” with its exposed brick walls and glass bottles of water. I browsed my menu with high hopes.
Before every school year starts, we think, “This will be the year. This will be the year I get my shit together, eat healthy, and go to the gym in the morning.” Then NSO happens, and you find yourself eating pizza at midnight wondering whether you can start your resolution next week, maybe next month… possibly never. To that I say: hell no.
When you’re about to leave a party, Alex Zhou’s (C’20) night is just beginning. As part of the youngest group of MERT members, Alex has already gotten the chance to flex his EMT muscles. And while he can’t go into details about the cases he’s worked on, his job’s a lot harder than just peeling drunk people off the sidewalk.
