Watching Fame is kind of like a Theos downtown. At first everything is spinning and you are not quite sure how the man at the door swindled ten dollars away from you. The night continues, however, and as the decibel of music grows more deafening, you try frantically to keep up with the drama that is unfolding at a rapid pace, various sets of friends crying and multiple plotlines swirling around you until you grow dizzy. You have the odd recollection that last Thursday night had a similar plot, you’ve seen this all before, and they are taking themselves too seriously. But, just as you are about to lose hope, the music picks up, and you can’t keep still. The dancing is amazing, and you begin to lose yourself in the eyes of the cute boy staring at you from the end of the bar, or from the forefront of the movie screen. Who is this stunning specimen? Newcomer: Asher Book. Book, with the voice of an angel and the face of my future husband, is enchanting and succeeded in stifling my Zac Efron obsession for a full hour and a half. The other cast members are equally talented, and while no one had the ability to carry a plotline by his or herself, together, they form an entertaining ensemble. So, the next time you are making a walk-of-shame on Friday morning after a night of shaking it on the dance floor, grab your high heels and oversized t-shirt and head straight for the movie theater to repeat last nights events. You won’t leave disappointed.
