The go-to shop for all the hippest ladies, Claire’s is a longtime favorite for adding spunk to our step. Determined to find some new accessories that would totally knock Clarissa out of the running to be Sam’s new girlfriend, I made my way to Philadelphia’s very own branch. The periwinkle lettering and sparkling entrance sent my hopes soaring: oh Claire’s, how I love you! I beelined straight to the lone display of clips, hoping to update my butterfly clip collection. Much to my dismay, I found only neon-colored bows and berets. No beautiful little butterfly clips! As if! That just wasn’t cool, so I took a deep breath and calmly began to search for my next best bet — a new hot pink tattoo necklace — but our favorite staples were nowhere to be found. I politely asked the saleswoman, whose nametag read “Hello my name is Dionne,” if she could direct me to the tattoo necklaces or the scrunchie display. Dionne claimed that they were currently out of stock and that I should come back next week. Talk to the hand, Dionne! I expected to hear TLC’s hit single, “Waterfalls,” to help extinguish the anger inside me, but even that was absent from this incredibly sub-par Claire’s. But I didn’t want to go home empty handed. I rummaged through the sale bins in search of something that would prevent me from re-telling this horrifying tale at the next campfire. And that’s when I found it: a beautiful box containing body glitter, glitter spray and glittery lip-gloss. Now Sam won’t be able to take his eyes off me. Next time you need something pierced, I strongly recommend Claire’s piercing booth, complete with 14 karat gold hoops. And for bows, berets and headbands galore, this store is just the place.
