An artistic genius and an incredibly haunted and complex man, Vincent Van Gogh remains one of the most accomplished artists in history. You may remember this Dutch painter as the guy who cut his ear off for the woman he loved; nowadays we consider ourselves lucky if a guy offers to buy us a beer at Blarney (maybe chivalry is dead, eh Van Gogh?).
To celebrate the life of the artist, The Rebecca Davis Dance Company will perform a contemporary ballet called Van Gogh right here in Philadelphia. The production features those individuals who not only played a role in Van Gogh’s life, but also those who appear in some of his lesser-known paintings.
Although he is typically depicted as a lonely, tortured soul, Van Gogh portrays the artist in a much kinder light, focusing on him as a romantic family man. Swing by The Prince Music Theater to see this arabesque-filled homage to Van Gogh. The show premiers tonight only, so get your tickets now.
