JMen, it's time to do better with skincare. Last month, GQ ran this piece on things that men can learn from Kim Kardashian’s beauty routine. With the cold weather rapidly approaching, it’s time for everyone to be ready to protect their skin and look their best, despite the borderline painful wind gusts that chap our lips, faces, and hands. Men might feel excluded from the world of skincare and beauty, but alas, good looks know no gender, so here are some basic steps men can take to look and feel better this fall.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize!

It’s not rocket science that one of the best ways to protect your skin from colder weather is by moisturizing after washing twice a day. Moisturizing is important because it keeps your skin looking and feeling soft and refreshed. While there are thousands of moisturizers out there, it's best to start off with a lightweight, unscented one at first. The Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, is a great refreshing, yet watery, and lightweight moisturizer for all seasons. On the other end of the price spectrum is the Cetaphil line of moisturizers; these come in a variety of different forms for different skin types, but you can never go wrong with the classic moisturizer with SPF 15.

Look Well–Rested

While sleep is the best remedy for the appearance of eye bags and eye contour, sometimes that just isn’t a viable solution. A daily eye cream can work wonders to reduce the look of under–eye puffiness and eye contour lines. The Jack Black Eye Balm De–Puffing and Cooling Gel will leave your eyes looking and feeling more refreshed despite lacking a full eight hours of sleep. On the more natural end, The Ordinary’s 5% Caffeine Solution is only $6.70 and can achieve a similar effect.

Lip Care

Chapped lips never look, or feel, good on anyone. The obvious solution is to regularly apply a lip balm of your choice throughout the day. However, if that just isn’t cutting it for you, lip scrubs and exfoliants may ease your woes. Lush makes a variety of freshly made cosmetics, including scented lip scrubs. However, most Lush products tend to be perishable, and if you can’t commit to regular use of this product, it may not be worth it. E.l.f. cosmetics makes a simple, lipstick like exfoliator, that is easy to use, non–perishable, and only $3.

Add a Toner!

Sometimes, washing your face just isn’t enough. A toner can help clean up excess oils and dirt that may be left behind after washing your face. Toners can be drying, so they are best used right after washing, but before moisturizing. Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion is a great option and comes in a variety of different formulas to accommodate different skin types.

It’s not hard to revamp your morning and night routine, especially when you can look brighter, healthier, and happier with just a little extra self care. Kim Kardashian went to a Balenciaga event with only lip balm and moisturizer, so there’s no telling how far a little extra TLC can take you down Locust Walk.
