1326 freshman made their voices heard. In the end, what were they shouting? "Andy Kaplan, let's see some ass." Andrew Kaplan is the recently voted President of the Class of '07, and he's not afraid to tackle the big questions, like "Who do you like more than a friend?" or "What will you do to save the babies?"

So tell us your life story.

I'm from Kansas. I am really excited to meet the class, work with the class and the class board. It's gonna be an exciting year. We are going to plan a lot of great stuff.

Tell us about your life in Kansas.

I live on a farm and wake up at 4 a.m. to milk the cows. No, it's a lot like any other city. I live in the suburbs; there aren't that many farms around. It has a bad stereotype of being...

Being Kansas?

Yeah, Kansas, and Dorothy. But we have the Kansas City Chiefs, that's exciting. (Editor's Note: The Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium is in Kansas City, Mo.)

How did you decide on Penn?

Well, actually the first time I saw Penn was the first day of orientation. I did take the virtual tour. It was very thorough.

So what did you think of Penn when you got here?

That it was a really nice place - the virtual tour didn't do it justice.

Are you excited for your first Homecoming?

Yeah, I don't know when it is, though.

Well, it's tradition that the Freshman Class President streaks at the game. How do you feel about that?

I don't want to disappoint tradition.

There are two events where the Frosh Class President streaks actually - Homecoming and [Scott's] birthday.

You hear that, all you pretty girls? Actually I heard I was supposed to streak the day I won.

Did you?

Well, it's a funny story actually.... (Editor's Note: The story wasn't very funny.)

Do you think that's really a tradition, or just something the other kids told you?

I think it's just a right wing conspiracy to get me naked.

Funny that's exactly what this interview is.... What did you think of your competitors?

A lot of them were very qualified. They worked really hard. I hope they all get involved in other organizations.

What was your platform?

I introduced myself to people, and I had creative signs to catch everyone's attention and capture their imaginations, like the one of me flexing my big guns.

Did you have a slogan?

Well, I emphasized that I would plan two or three social events per semester, and do a March of Dimes fundraiser to save babies. We're gonna save babies. Every dollar we raise, we can save a baby.

Can you buy me a baby for a dollar?

I don't know, I'm not a people dealer. I just get their votes, I don't sell them. I also promised that I would be the only candidate to spend time trying to get the Olsen twins to come to Penn.

How will you do that?

Well, there will be difficulties since it is already October and a little late in the admissions season. And there have been a lot of muggings lately, which is not environmentally conducive to such celebrities. But I do write them letters. They are mostly focused on New York, which is a shame because I feel Philadelphia has a lot to offer. I have stayed on campus mostly, so I'm not sure what exactly.

You haven't taken the virtual tour of Philadelphia yet?

No, not yet.

What do you want to study here eventually?

I think something in Economics. I feel like I am doing well in that, did good on the first midterm.

What will you do besides social events? You can't get by on just social events.

Well, also the community service, saving babies. How many times have I said that? (4)

Did you have a campaign manager?

There were a lot of people that helped me: Scott, Leah, Matt. All the people in my suite, they helped a lot.

If you were us, what question would you want us to ask you?

Why are you so good looking and enthusiastic?

Why are you so good looking and enthusiastic?

I am so enthusiastic because of the position the people have put me in. It is not my policy to comment on my good looks and good nature.

Not how good looking are you, why are you so good looking? What twist of genetic fate?

It just runs in the family.

What would you say to girls who might read this and be interested in the most powerful man in the freshman class?

I would be flattered and willing to meet them. They can always swing by Hill. I do spend a lot of time there. I am always open to conversation. Is this a dating service or a magazine?

What is the most scandalous thing that has happened at Hill?

Well, there was a flood.

A scandalous flood?

Well, I don't know if I am in position to comment, but let's just say it goes deeper than the plumbing.

What do you want to say to the freshman class?

As long as they are active and participate in the events we plan this year, it will be incredible. The more enthusiastic they are in class activities and the more willing they are to tell us what they want, the whole class board is going to listen and we will help them have a good time. And also save babies. (5)
