Scarecrow Design Contest Where: Oak Allee, the Morris Arboretum Cost: Free When: October 3-18 Nothing embodies wholesome fall fun like a scarecrow. Summer is ending, and at the Morris Arboretum that means scarecrows will soon line Oak Allée, a European-style lane. Entering its second year, the Scarecrow Design Contest will feature the work of 30 participants, and visitors will have the opportunity to submit ballots for their favorite creation. From October 3-18, scarecrows — perhaps even a rendition of Mother Nature on a bicycle (last year’s winner) or a blow-up plastic dinosaur with a sunflower straw hat — will add autumnal cheer to the Morris Arboretum’s natural beauty. —Ryan Carty
