Given that her last single was a moody contribution to the Twilight soundtrack, Lykke Li’s latest — the aptly titled “Get Some” — is nothing if not a breath of fresh air. Over little more than some addictively repetitive percussion, the Swedish songstress breaks through the gentle angst of her past work to create a viable dance song. The pace is just fast enough, the lyrics just simple enough, her vocals just controlled enough to make it feel like catchy pop. And the layering of her voice edges out its normal childlike quality enough to take the potential creepiness out of the song’s mission statement: “I’m your prostitute, you gon’ get some.” The chorus will have you singing along to those words in no time — and maybe meaning them, at least a little bit. As for those of you who listen to Lykke Li to wallow, have no fear; “Get Some” was released along with the acoustic B-side “Paris Blue,” a plaintive little apology for infidelity as evocative of failed European romance as anything else she’s written.
